Ray Lewis’s appearances on ESPN have a little bit of an Emmitt Smith feel to them now. Speaking on live TV is incredibly challenging, and there’s a learning curve, but, beyond the foibles, it’s uncomfortable when he discusses social issues — for obvious reasons — regardless of whether or not what he says has merit.
Last week it was Ray Rice — Lewis said there was “no comparison” between himself and the former Ravens running back, and the New York Times’ Michael Powell wrote, “That just might be the nicest thing anyone said about Rice this week” — and Monday night it was Adrian Peterson:
